GPS Students Bring Global Recognition with UpWeave

A remarkable achievement for Global Public School, Thiruvaniyoor!

Parvathy Neeliyath Othayoth and Saraswati Neeliyath Othayoth, students of Global Public School (GPS), Thiruvaniyoor, have brought global recognition to the school by winning the Future Entrepreneur of the Year 2026, organised by KidsMBA.

Their venture, UpWeave, stood out among entries from young entrepreneurs participating in KidsMBA programmes across the world. The venture offers an innovative solution to the growing challenge of plastic waste by transforming discarded plastic materials into handwoven fabrics and thoughtfully designed lifestyle products.

From plastic wrappers, carry bags and multilayer packaging, UpWeave creates products including tote bags, laptop sleeves, backpacks and pouches. The discarded plastic is converted into yarn and woven by hand using traditional looms, bringing together environmental responsibility, craftsmanship and entrepreneurship.

The international judging panel — Rahul Dubey, Lesley Li and Luc Janssens — recognised UpWeave for its strong focus on sustainability and social impact, along with its sound business approach. The students demonstrated a clear understanding of key aspects of their venture, including pricing, costs, margins and market potential.

As the overall winners, Parvathy and Saraswati have earned the Future Entrepreneur of the Year 2026 title and US$1,000 in seed funding to further develop UpWeave.

Their achievement is a proud moment for the entire GPS community and an inspiring example of how young innovators can turn everyday challenges into meaningful entrepreneurial opportunities.

UpWeave — Crafted with Waste. Woven with Purpose.
