Global Public School creates awareness on the occasion of World Environment Day 2022

Students of Global Public School performed a street play- “Karayyum Kadallum” on Saturday, 04th June 2022 at Lulu Mall on the eve of World Environment Day.

World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5th every year and this year, is being observed with ‘Only One Earth’ as the theme, focussing on ‘Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature,’

The street play effectively portrayed the ubiquitous mosquitoes calling out humans’ mismanagement of waste as the sole reason of all woes. The play was enacted in association with Plan@Earth, a non-profit voluntary organisation working for re-utilization of discards with whom Global Public School has had a long association.

This year Plan@Earth plans to focus on DROP, Drive to Recover Ocean Plastic, which is a two-fold project. Fishing boats will be urged to avoid use of plastic and bring back whatever plastic waste is generated or caught on trips. The recovered plastic will be collected onshore, transported sorted, graded and sent for recycling by Plan@Earth.

‘Karayyum Kadallum’ was performed to create awareness of the dangers of micro plastic and pollution in our oceans as well as the need for proper waste management.

The play ended with a call for collective and transformative action on a global scale to celebrate, protect and restore our planet.
