A Visit To The Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant: TeacherTalk

Mr. Dileep writes about his trip to the Kundankulam Nuclear Power Plant with the Physics students of the GPS-International wing.

On 24th Sept 2014 a group of 46 students of grades  IX , X (IGCSE) and XI(AS level) and 4 teachers of GPS-International got a rare opportunity to visit India’s first pressurised water reactor (PWR) at Kudankulam in Thirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu.

It is also India’s biggest nuclear power plant producing the maximum amount of electricity ie 1000MW per reactor. The children were given an opportunity to interact with the scientists at the facility and also they could view the internal areas of the second reactor, which is still under construction and likely to be commissioned in May 2015.
