It was an exciting day at Global Public School, Thiruvaniyoor,  as Ms. Anjali Arun, our Alumna of Tiger Comics, came in to interact with our students. The idea was to celebrate the power of reading and stir their imagination by introducing them to a different, home-grown genre on National Reading Day -19^th June 2023.

The students of Junior School listened attentively as she explained the origin of  “Tiger Comics” and how it promotes inspirational stories from India in graphic form with illustrations by local artists.

Students were given  12 different titles, devoured them eagerly and managed to read 2 to 3 titles in 25 minutes and students had a lot of queries and feedback about the stories as well as the illustrations. The children just loved the session!

National Reading Day Celebrations continued throughout the day with the Language department having reading activities in Hindi, French, Malayalam and English. The Library team added to the excitement with a Book Quiz in the Junior Library and Book Character Enactment in the Senior Library.

A fitting tribute indeed in memory of Kerala’s own P. N. Panicker for his contribution to the library movement and the promotion of reading in Kerala!
