“NO” to Child Abuse
As part of our Preschool curriculum, the Department of Counselling of the Skill Development Centre conducted a class for Step 3 students on 28th January 2016 to create awareness on how to be safe and what to do when faced with unsafe situations.
Students were taught that nobody has permission to touch their private body parts. The thumb rule of “NO, GO, TELL” in case of any untoward event, was stressed upon. Role plays were done using the students and several students enthusiastically volunteered to participate. Parents were requested to reinforce the same learning at home as an open and healthy discussion about body and private parts should begin at home.
This effort to create awareness against child abuse will be an ongoing and continuous endeavour in school. After all, it shouldn’t hurt to be a child.
