An Onam for Uttarakhand

An Onam for Uttarakhand

“An excellent symbol of the spirit Of Onam that will stand as an example to all schools not just in Kerala, but across India”, was how the District Collector, Mr P.I. Sheik Pareeth, described the effort by the students and staff at Global Public School, Thiruvaniyoor to support the Uttarakhand relief work.

He was speaking at a function organised at the school on 13-Sep-2013,  to present him with a cheque toward the Prime Minister’s National  Relief Fund. On hearing the appeal for large scale support for their brethren in flood-hit Uttarakhand, the student body had organised collections that ranged from Re 1 to Rs 1000, and the staff voluntarily contributed one day’s salary to this.
A sum of Rs One Lakh fifty thousand was handed over to the District Collector by the Student Council leaders and the Director Mr. Johan Jacob.

Mr Pareeth thanked the students and said that this kind action is worth emulating and exhorted the students to always imbibe the best from arts and culture along with their academics. The Onam

story presented by young Namratha and the songs by the School choir, bought out the raconteur in Mr Pareeth. He spoke about Maveli’s transition to a well beloved King and impressed on the young minds on the need to see the good in everything

He also felicitated the toppers of the first batch of Grade 10 CBSE students of the school.
